Meet Dr. Bob Rush
Discovering Chiropractic
Dr. Bob Rush grew up as many of us did – without exposure to chiropractic, and learning to care for our health through the use of traditional medicine.
It wasn’t until he spent three weeks in the hospital in his mid-twenties that his perspective on healthcare was changed forever.
A herniated disk had caused great pain, and as a result, Dr. Bob walked with a cane for the next two years. His doctors told him he would never walk normally again without extensive back surgery.
Thankfully, a friend recommended chiropractic to him. After just three months of chiropractic care, he was able to walk without assistance, and decided to pursue a career in chiropractic himself.
Education, Training, and Experience
Dr. Bob chose to attend Pennsylvania College of Straight Chiropractic, which was conveniently located right here in the Philadelphia area. It is now a part of Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic.
He entered chiropractic school with the primary goal of helping people who suffered like he did, and felt there may be no hope for them, either.
He was shocked and thrilled to learn why chiropractic is such powerful a tool for treating pain, and that is because it helps the entire body heal!
“I was excited to find out that chiropractic is actually about whole health – that it helps people organically. Plus, I’ve always loved working with people,” says Dr. Bob. “My goal is to give my patients the best possible attention and care, and to help them feel well, be well, and stay well.”
While in school, Dr. Bob pursued many additional academic courses and certifications, including board certification in Physiotherapeutics and Spinal Radiology.
He is also certified in Advanced Deep Tissue Muscle Work, Physical Rehabilitation advanced Imaging (X-Ray and MRI) and other related areas of study. Dr. Bob is also a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA), and is very experienced in gentle chiropractic care for children and infants.
Since graduating from chiropractic college in 1993, Dr. Bob has gained over 20 years of clinical and diagnostic experience as a chiropractor.
Seeing and hearing about great results from his patients keeps chiropractic exciting for Dr. Bob. He is still amazed and inspired when he gets to be a part of helping his patients heal from debilitating issues such as asthma, migraine headaches, chronic earaches in infants and toddlers, chronic pain, and much more.
Outside The Office
When he’s not at work, Dr. Bob enjoys playing music—in fact, his entire family is musical. He has been a musician his entire life and sings and plays bass guitar with a number of famous rock groups!
His wife teaches voice, piano and script coaching, and his grown daughters are successful in their own musical careers.
“There’s a certain sensitivity that comes with being a musician or singer,” says Dr. Bob, “just as with being a doctor.”
Dr. Bob feels this passion and compassion, along with finely developed diagnostic and healing skills, helps him to better relate to and care for his patients.
Supporting Community and Leading an Active Lifestyle
Dr. Bob is an active person. He enjoys coaching his patients in proper exercise form and advising how to get the most health benefits from their athletic pursuits, be it skating, weight-lifting, golfing, running and so on.
He also serves as a panel doctor for the Philadelphia Police Department and works with injured police officers, fire fighters and city workers.
He supports veterans and helps athletes recover from injury, as well as serving musicians, dancers, gymnasts, and performers with chiropractic correction related to the passions they pursue.
